Failure - The Stepping Stone to Success?

Remember how we learnt to walk and cycle? We failed several times while learning how to do so But the sad part is that from our childhood days we are made to learn that winners get the praised and failures are laughed at.

Are you aware that Amitabh Bachchan had once tried to get a job in All India Radio. He was rejected because they found his voice very unsuitable. Michael Jordan was cut from the school basketball team; Steve Jobs was fired from his own company,Abraham Lincoln lost eight elections.

This makes me realize that the greatest achievers have had far more “failures” than they have successes.

Failure is definitely not the end of the road. Rather, it is a great teacher. It shows us how to tread the right path. Failure makes us think. We realize what people go through when they fail and how they cope to succeed later. It makes you realize what you have done wrong so you can do the right later. If you have never failed means you have never tried something new

The fear of failure is the greatest barrier to success. It is also the major reason that holds back people from realizing their full potential and achieving their goals.

Playing it safe can also be risky. It puts you out of action. You choose to let go potential opportunities and push yourself into mediocrity. When you restrict yourself to your cocoon, you keep yourself from tapping your full potential and blooming into a beautiful butterfly.

Failure is a matter of perspective. Many think failure as the opposite of success. But failures are in fact the stepping stones of success.

Nothing worthwhile in life has ever been achieved without a series of failures.

Thomas Alva Edison once said: "I did not fail 1,000 times, but I found out 1,000 ways that didn't work."

  1. Inspiring and motivational article. Try Try till you succeed. This should be the ultimate motto of every person who craves for success and satisfaction in life. I am reminded of King Arthur who lost the battle for regaining his kingdom 7 tmes. He was dejected and thought of giving it up. While sitting in a cave he saw a spider attempting to make a web and failing 7 times. However he succeeded in making the web in the 8th attempt. This was an eye-opener for King Arthur who decided to make another attempt in regaining bis kingdom. Rest is history.
