A Universe that was Never Meant to be Ours

As I lay down, on the mighty green grass,

and look above into infinity,

the snowflakes that I see, just countless stars,

that seem to go on for eternity,

Diamonds on velvet black, I wonder, are they all ours?

or just aliens mocking humanity, 

Showing off and revealing our scars,

While we are busy flattering our vanity,

Thinking that Earth was meant to ours

Won't stop the fact that it's a fallacy,

Won't stop the fact that we were meant to be stuck behind the bars,

Of aliens that left behind a powerful legacy.

WIll we reach as far as the red-brown mars?

And take on the responsibility,

Of colonizing it, so someday there we will drive our cars,

Still disrespecting our powerful ability,

To conquer a universe that was never meant to be ours?

Hey! Don't you ever get lost in your thoughts thinking about questions like How humans ever came into place? Well, that is exactly what I was doing and I started wondering what if we were the creation of another civilization, maybe we were the destruction of that civilization,  we were a legacy that they left behind.
