The Color of Envy

I feel envy is like looking through a microscope, finding those small differences between your life and another's, it is like counting someone else's blessings instead of yours.
Its a cycle of looking at what other people possess, then looking at what you have and feeling the need to have more. It's a cycle that looks very hard to get out of, but in reality,

It is as simple as feeling happy for what other people are blessed with instead of crying over what you are not.

[Read that again]

The color of envy is clearly dark, but, is there some angel to its figure?

According to studies done at Texas Christian University, envy increases memory and cognitive function.
A good thing?  Evidently not.
The only thing the subjects were sharper about were the objects of their envy.

Some argue envy is positive because it challenges us to reach higher and be better. But another in the same set of studies revealed that envy reduced subjects’ abilities to complete an unrelated, challenging mental task. This was blamed on something psychologists call “ego depletion.”

Ego depletion is the idea that we only have so much self-control to go around. If we expend a lot of energy fighting the nasty emotions associated with envy, we won’t have as much persistence with other things.

So, a final judgment, Envy is undoubtedly a great sin, something triggered when you feel like someone has not many but more than you.

Remember, we all are equally blessed, just in different ways.

  1. I would not venture to say that envy is undoubtedly the darkest sin of all. There are many many more worse and horrible sins in the world. Envy is a natural instinct in every person which undoubtedly requires to be held in check if a person is to be happy. He should always keep in mind for his own happiness and wellbeing "Har Kisiko Mukkamal Jahan Nahi Milta. Kisiko Jamin Nahin Milti toh Kisiko Aasman Nahin Milta" The secret to happiness lies in being satisfied and grateful for what you have. This however does not preclude you from going ahead with your ambitions, goals and desires in life, which you should pursue relentlessly with all the personal health safeguards.

    1. Yes thank you for your view on this topic! Envy is not something we should practice, but we cannot look over the fact that Envy forces you to do better and be better.
